Yellow Lab and Convict

Postby moocowt on Thu Nov 11, 2004 10:44 pm

Okay, so I've had my tank for almost a year now. I have a female Convict and a nd a male (i think) Yellow Lab along with some barbs and a catfish or two, plus a pleco. My problem is, the Yellow Lab has been picking on the Convict. Non-Stop! It used to be the other way around, with the Convict picking on the Yellow Lab. The Lab has beaten up the Convict to the point where I think she may not make it. Her fins are all torn up and the Lab has been tearing off scales it looks like. The Convict is now swimming sideways. She looks very distressed and is staying at the top of the tank to avoid confrontation with the Lab. What is happening? Thanks - Tristan

sounds like a classic case of rivalry,

you should first move the injured fish to another tank and treat it with some medication ASAP.
