well the catfish didnot eat my tigerbarbs, but my swords!

Postby sportyrox on Fri Jul 12, 2002 5:43 am

I woke up this morning and saw 3 out of my 4 swords gone!My lima shovelnose cat was looking at me through the glass with the males long sword sticking out of his mouth!
My bumblebee(he is 8 inches long) was fat as crap!My lima is too small to eat the swords, he spit out the small male, and the bumblebee has a too small a mouth. Please i need a solution.Should i just get bigger swords?
The swords i bought were small(1.5inches).

even if u get bigger swords, the catfish will grow bigger and eat them. just dont keep the large catfish and swords together.

dont waste your money.. the lima and bumblebee cats are hunters and wouldnt mind picking off a few more of those swoards. most livebearers would be a very easy target since they sleep on ground, and thats when the catfish start to hunt. a good way of telling which catfish is a hunter by looking at the whiskers.. if they're long, they hunt.

--o yah i forgot, a solution would be to get another tank or get rid of the catfish.

bumble bees are psycho. I work at my lps, and one of the girls i work with put the bumble bees...about 10 of them, in with the neon tetras. funnily enough we couldn't work out why all the neons were dieing and the dead had their stomachs eaten out.... silly us... i guess you learn through experience. you can't have predators in a community tank!
