I was sitting by the West Bank (my collection of 4 55s that are on the west wall of my tiny home) watching the herd of Zebra Danios that liven up the community, and it occurred to me that the difference between these loveable little fishfaces and my Oscars is probably just size --
and our attitude towards them! If Danios chase each other around relentlessly, we call it an active, gregarious tank and show it to our grandkids. If Oscars act the same, we post in the 911 forum in tears. And whoever says that Oscars have huge appetites have never seen the raw, unbridled excitement when Danios are fed -- they're like baby pirahnas. As are the Tiger Barbs, the Rosy Barbs, the Black Skirt Tetras, etc. etc. The only fish that sits back and eats patiently is the single Angel in the community tank, and the Pl*cos. Everyone else eats just like, or worse than, Oscars -- but Oscars get all the press. And, they cost much more. Hmmm.... I wonder what the fishfaces are thinking about while watching us . . . .
