Tank for Dovii

Postby Qserv on Wed Jan 23, 2002 11:50 pm

Hi all,
I have been considering get some Dovii, or atleast one, i have a 5x2x2 tank spare at the moment and was wondering if it would be a big enough home for a dovii or even a pair of dovii, i know a guy who has one in a 10x2x2 - its a great looking fish, apparently it will kill ANY fish he puts in with it so it has the whole tank to itself.
Also are dovii hard to pair up?? and how do you sex them?

Thanks,

Mick.

Tank for Dovii

I got a Parachromis dovii (wolf cichlid)
males can get to 60cm plus (24inches) whereas females will only get half that size, males have a green tinge to their nose and fins.
That size tank would be good for a young breeding pair which are not really huge or one big mean male.

males get really agressive the bigger they get.

Mine wont tollerate any tank mates and is on its own. I feed him red devil and rainbow cichlid babies

thanks Tony, Now for the hard part, i will have to convince my girlfriend to let me put it somewhere in the house,, i already have 7 tanks setup(and another 8 empty) in the house, but that just isnt enough Image (Planing on coverting our unused carport on a 8ft x 12ft slab into a fishroom next)
