stinky water

Postby noangel on Thu Mar 14, 2002 12:41 am

ok , here's my stupid question for the night. i was trying to fix the 350 magnum on the 75 gal tank, never have been able to get the wet/dry to work.it also has a powerhead. i only feed the big o's twice a day. vacumm every week. but with the tiger o going berserk i thought something was still wrong, this is the tank the last heater broke. and he still acts like he is on pep pills and bit hubbie 3 times me once. i wasn't about to smell the water like tony so i got hubby to do it and it was so gross.of course being one of the first tanks we set it to close to the wall so i can't put ac500 in back,,,,,but for tonight i have it in the front of tank and with carbon. i just unplugged the 350.....gave up for now.......................whoops i got carry away again. the question is what causes that smell and what to do about it and is this why he has gone mad? sorry past my bedtime...........help

Past my bedtime too Mel LOL
Sounds like you should increase filteration on that particular tank.
Have you done any tests?
Is it just a fishy smell or a smell that makes you want to talk to the big white phone (Throw up) ?

You current filter probably isnt enough to do the job.

Cut your Os feedingd down to once a day, even very second day wont hurt term

stinky water

since i put the ac500 in tempory on front over night the smell is better and all the readings are correct, but the male oscar i think needs a pschytrist. he's still trying to bite the glass the tube from the magnum 350 and stays on his side of the bubbles, left side. poor female still sits on her side looking at me and staring at him. i will fix the magnum 350 when i get back monday but hope he survives through whatever has happened to him. for now the ac500 seems to be helpful till then. the water last night was not the fishie smell it was just gross throw up
