Hi there

My tank has a bad smell to it i have a tank that is housing 5 oscars in there. it's 135gal and i have the ac500 going ther are 2 ogf them. i have the ammonia wit hthe carbon in there two and did a water change 4days ago

Two ac500 filters only turns the tank over about 7 times an hour. Another filter or replacing one with gs per hour should help.
You also have to take into consideration the filter media used which slows own the rate of flow that the manufacture specifies.
Do you change your carbon weekly?

I agree Oscar2001. One more reccomendation, Next time you change your media, don't get the kind with the ammonia remover. You should be changing your media about every three weeks. Also I would reccomend cell-pore inserts instead of the black diamond. It will help your biological growth that aqua clears provide none of. You definately need more filteration. Your water should be turning over at least 12 times an hour. Yours is turning around 6 at the most. I would add two emp 400's. The emp. is a much better filter IMO.And go to http://www.bigalsonline.com/ and get some cell pore inserts made by cerecona. Also you could order your filters while you are there.

yah, i think it might be time for a carbon change and get some stuff like cycle to help start back your biologicall bacteria.
