spring break

WEll, not good for a solid week.. Also the water can go south reall fast IF you didn't DO a 50% water change right before you leave AND clean out the box if hang on type, and add in filter New pads to the filters IF they are over 3 days old/just cleaned...

I take it you can't have someone come in a feed every other day?? This would make a great difference and he would not starve and the water would stay good until you get back..

Anyone that you know that has a tank, that can take him for the week?? Break down the tank and take it to them if you can.. Save as much of the water as you can...

Sorry, not much any one can advise you on here...

A week is not going to hurt an oscar if it's a decent size. I would say moving the fish and/or breaking down a tank would be far more stress on the fish. Filtration is probably the biggest concern if anything. Some folks squeeze O's into small tanks but if you can't make a week without getting a water problem then you have a bigger problem.

I agree with this, but would add that even juvi Oscars would be fine after only a week. Experientially, I've never had any vacation problems after a week in absence --
