Rock weight on glass.... :)

Postby gem on Fri Jul 01, 2005 7:51 am

A very nice lady told me to come along here and ask my question... or is deepsea male, i never can tell :D

I have built up a small rockery into a bigger one using heavy river rocks. They are all stable and they are not high so even with digging i dont think there would be much falling far.

My question is, how much weight can a glass tank withstand?? is it 'anything goes'? i have postioned the rocks so they are not leaning on the back of the glass because i have used lightweight imitation rock as a buffer for this.

Tank is 4 foot, holds approx 55 gallons of water. Also, is there any best way to have the rocks ie. along the back, in the centre, in one corner???

Thats good to hear. I've often wondered what kind of weight the bottom glass of a tank can support, though. Just one of those random numbers that its good to have in your repetoir...lol.
