Readying Tank for NEW FISH after an ATTACK of HITH???

Postby daddyoscar on Sun Aug 14, 2005 5:46 pm

I just recently had an ATTACK of HITH start in my one Oscars Tank.
And I guess through the Cleaning of my other tank, with the SAME Equipment-Spread it over into my other Oscars Tank.:( :( :(
Long Story SHORT Since there isn't a CURE for HITH... I had to put them to Sleep...
Humainly OF COARSE...

My question is this...what!?
What can I do if anything to Clean Up, and Sterilize my Equipment...
i.e. Tank, Hood, Filters, Gravel and the like to make it, Safe Again for New inhabitants.

I know most of it can be cleaned up fairly easly using BLEACH. AND then of coarse followed by a VERY VERY Good Rinsing.

But what about the GRAVEL?
Should I try to CLEAN it with Bleach and give it a Good Rinsing, Followed by a Good Dose of Chlorine Remover?
Or should I just Ditch it and Buy all New?
Or is there anything Else I can use to Sterilize my TANK and Equipment with?

Any and all HELP I'd be most Greatful:confused:

i do love answering the general fresh water posts lol

(can i be a mod please lol)

hith, as far as im aware, is unproven as to its cause but im 99% sure it isnt contagious(it seems to be mostly caused by stress and diet problems), however, if i were you, id buy all new gravel, its cheap and its easy and it offers total peace of mind oposed to just washing the other stuff.

just bleach to wash all the heats and filters and stuff, and just boil the old spounges.... easy as pie
