I have to say that I have no idea how to use this protien skimmer that I recently purchased on-line. I have a aqua-clear powerhead 802 which I was told was necessary for operation. Tank is new, 90 gallon salt water, only 3 damsels in it right now. It has been running for 1 month now. Attached is a picture of the skimmer that I have. I have read the instruction on how it is operated, but for some reason I just dont get it. I asked the lfs but they are clueless. I know it sounds kind of strange, but any help would be appreciated, I'd hate this 75 bucks to go to waste. Thanks so much for your time.

Thats a little different looking then some of the skimmers I've used,but what are you haveing problems with? hooking it up or just understanding how it works?

All you need to do is hook it the powerhead to the input and have the other (outlet) put water back in the tank. You run the airstone with an airpump and the air bubbles swirl around and carry waste up to the top (cup) of the protein skimmer (looks like scum) then you dump the cup.


With a tank only set up a month with only 3 damsels and no inverts or corals,you could run the skimmer and it not do anything much as far as enough "skimming" you'd be able to notice.
