I've used C.L.R before. I haven't ever done this with fish in the tank however. It worked really well for me I just put it in some water and scrubbed the h@*# out of it. Make sure you rinse the tank very well after though that stuff is nasty! That's probably not the best idea out there, but what the heck.

what kind of stains are they, if theyre calsium, then I use a razor blade. BUT USE EXTREME CAUTION you want to use a fresh blade everytime to prevent scratching, and do not apply too much pressure. scrape in only one direction, not back and fourth, or up and down etc........

im not sure if the stains are calcium, but i tried scrubbing it with water and a sponge. its really tough to get it off. the stains are outside of the tank. i heard somewhere that i can use lemon juice or lime juice or something like that to rub it off is it true?

Most likely calcium (or other mineral) stain. The lemon or lime juice might work because of the acid. I've also used vinegar.
