Hi scott.
Also make sure its not from an injury. Its possible and not uncommon for Oscars to crash into something in your tank.
Pop eye is not always the same disease, but can be caused by a couple of diffrent ones. Treating the right cause of the pop eye is paramount to saving the eye, and fish. If the swelling gets too large, many times the eye will be lost.
Is this a new tank.....if yes, look to gas bubble disease as the cause.
Check carfully around the eye, to look for signs of injury.
If its not these, then it is most likly a bacteria infection, or kidney disorder.
To rule out bacerial infections look for signs of red ness, or red streaks, or blotchs on the fins etc.
It could be an internal infection, affecting kidneys, if none of these signs are there.
Last but not least if could also be from the fish's diet, and water conditions.Do you feed quality food, keep the water clean, make sure your water paramitors are where they should be, (ie ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate's).
