I bought a few new fish for my tank the other day, a handsome pleco, a spotted cory cat and what was called a "golden roller." I have searched google for 3 days now looking for information on this fish, and can find nothing. I mean, they had a tankful at the pet store, and it was only a few dollars... I don't get it.

He is a bottom feeder, orange, thin transparent fins. He has heavy characteristics of a loach. I wish I could attach a picture, but my camera is currently not working. Either way, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Look anything like this?

(not my picture)

If so look up

Gyrinocheilus and Gerra <---- some of the algae eaters in those families are sometimes sold as rollers or stone rollers and the "albino" types are sometimes sold as "golden rollers"

That would be him! I love him to death, he's a great little bottom feeder. He's relatively chill, he hangs out in my little rock cove and sucks the algae from there. He is brighter orange than that picture, but that is him, most definately.

Does anybody know anything about their temperment or what the best diet would be for him? I have some sinking pellets I feed him and my cory cat and my pleco, but I just wanted to hear you guys opinions on it. :)

Ya, they are good little algea eaters. Another common name is the Albino chinese algea eater, They can reach lenths of 10 inches in the wild. but the biggest one I've had was 6". They are a perfect Algea eater for an African cichlid tank because they are farely aggressive and don't take too much crap. They are also very quick swimmers and hide well if things get too hectic.
