what is filter floss used for? does it just work like bio balls? if not what does it do. and i also want to know what i can get to clear up my cloudy water

Floss is used to polish water[a fine material]. Clearing up cloudy water it can do if it is small particals you need to get out. A few thing we need to know 1st is water parameters,amm,trites trates,..What size tank, fish and what filtration?Lighting? These will help better diagnose the problem.

0 amm. im not sure bout the others. but ph is around 7-8.5 and phos is about 1-2ppm. i have a 85 gallon tank. 2 oscars and 5 silver dollars and 1 unknown fish. i have a fluval 404 and an xp3. i recently stopped turning the lights on becuase of algae problems.

pHOS IS A BIT HIGH I BELIEVE AND THAT FEED S ALGAE [sry caps]

A phos blocker might help along with water changes and a good lighting setup
