new filter for the cichlid tank

Postby Craig on Thu May 05, 2005 2:07 pm

hey everyone.

i was just at the lf super store and saw that hang on back filters have finally made it across to the UK (well no were in hull had them)

so, on that note, i picked up the 800l an hour model for my severum tank.

its an aqua clear (formerly aqua pacific apparently) one, and im really impressed, the flow rates incredible, as is the price. only £20.

not a huge area to filter through, i was thinking of putting my canister intake into the hang on back body and just taking it stright from there lol.

so with my big cannister, my hang on back monster my tank it crystal clear and im very impressed.

any one got a prefferance, cannister or hang on back? and how come?

Cheers

I've only done hang on backs, in the few years I've been doing aquariums. I just can't cost-justify the price of a canister...

One of my tanks has the H.O.T. Magnum canister -- which is both. It's a hang-on and a canister, and so far (2 months?) it's performing very, very well --

Hows that work? I thought a filter had to be one or the other. Is it the El Camino of filters? lol.

I have two HOB Emperor 400's and a XP3 Canister on my tank. I am really impressed with the XP3 and I'm sure I really don't need the 400's, I just leave them there because I don't have another tank that needs one.
