Hi,

My names Kev and I have one Buttikoferi Cichlid in a 70 gallon tank.

I brought it about four weeks ago and boyyyyyyyyyyyy did I learn the hard way to educate myself about the fish before I go out buy it.

Here's what happend, I had three other fish in the tank, two albino and one red Osar. When I put that Tilapia Buttikoferi Cichlid in it killed the red Osar and had the other two shivering in thier skin before I could separate them.

Fortunately, I was able take the Osar's to my local pet store for resale.

Now, I have a bunch of questions on how to raise a very large Buttikoferi Cichlid and most of all what kind of other fish can It live with?

Please post some pictures! :D

(You can probably get a bigger tank and have 'more' fish in there for the tilapia buttikoferi to spread it's anger on...)

Ok, I'll get my daughter to help me out with sending the pictures when she comes home from school this weekend.

Soooooooooo, why is the fish so angry? It's tearing up the tank and It acts like the heater and filter hose is it's worst enemy.

Do you know where I can find books specifically about the Tilapia?

They're known to be a very aggressive fish, on par with 'red devils' and other mean ones, Dovii, umbee, jaguar, red terror, motaguense, black nasty, trimac etc...some say theirs was peaceful, it may depend on the tankmates, tank size, tank environment, order fish was added to the tank, and individual temperament.
