Absentee Feeding

Postby Indy on Thu Apr 07, 2005 10:06 pm

I am going to be called out of town shortly and I don't have anyone to feed my fish while I am gone. I will be gone for about 4 days.

I have heard there is something called a vacation feeder. Does anyone know anything about it?

There's two types that I've seen. There's a mechanical device that you fill up and then it drops a portion of food on a daily basis into the tank. Also, I've seen blocks of food designed to be left in aquariums for extended periods that fish can feed off of. Both of these seen to be available everywhere.

However, for just a 4 day absence, I'd not worry about feeding at all. Your fish will be fine. I've left mine for up to two weeks without food, during summer vacations, and they show no ill effects at all.

Hi Indy

U dont have to worry at all feeding u r fishes ,as u r fishes can do without food for a maximum of 7 days!!.

Any way if you want to buy a feeder, buy the best ,as many get spoiled after a month or so.

Absentee Feeding

WOW! This initial post was posted in April.

Anyway, the fish were just fine without food for a week. In fact they cleaned the tank real good while I was gone. Taught me how little food they really do need.
