Hi arcas,
It depends on the pics. Sexing oscars involves a lot of criteria which is sometimes very hard to clearly portray through pictures. But these days people have HIGH RESOLUTION digital cameras. I use the Nikon Coolpix 990, basically to try to sex an oscar I'd need high resolution high quality pictures at many different angles, and several pictures zoomed in on various parts, fins, head, and genital papillae at diff angles etc....all this info would be taken into consideration ALONG with behavioural observations of the fish. I have found most people do not have adequate quality pictures, but I think that will change, you don't need a high quality digital camera. You can just take 'regular' pictures and then after you develop them scan them in a color scanner at a good resolution, ie scan at 600dpi minimum, try 1600x1200 resolution.....most important will be how you "take" the picture, to take in consideration the lighting, reflections etc..and movement of fish so as to adjust aperature and shutterspeed in compensation. Maybe we should announce a chat session sometime dedicated to SEX -ing
