Hi everyone new to the forums, LOL hate to ask you guys this because I went threw the forums to see if I could gather any info on Breeding JDs but nothing really what I was looking for. Ummm I have a male and a female how big do they have to be( I have heard many different rumors). And the male I have seems to be very very agressive towards her is this normal or not a good sign?
So any info on this would be great from some JD experts. Cheers everyone.

Hi Cutter
Welcome to the forum.
I am not JD breeder, but did some checking for another member. Plus since I have a tank coming free soon, thought I might get JD's, they are on the list anyhow.
First for size, the females can breed at 3 inch's, however 4 is more comon. Try and keep the male around the same size, to big and it could injure the female.
You see typical sidling up to one another and undulating together, chasing one another around the tank, and lip-locking. The male and female lock lips and try to overpower one another. It is the Female seeing if the male is strong enough. Now keep in mind, the fact of having one of each sex, is no way a gurenty of breeding. they will decide. Hope that gives you some insight.

Well I had to take her out of the tank she was getting to beat up by him. It was getting so bad she was all beat up and bruised hiding under the filter not moving, he wouldn t even let her eat. Well anyway not sure what my next move is but I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the replies and help. Good to be aboard Cheers everyone.

Are you sure you have a male and a female? With mine it was hard to tell, but your male is acting just like my male acted towards the other male I had.

Man, I even confuse myself with some of these replies!
