gravel question

Postby stretch-1 on Wed Feb 23, 2005 9:48 pm

right now i have a couple of convict cichlids in my 20g. I have black and red (about 75% red) gravel but with my light the whole tank has a pink look to it. I have a hagen power-glo light on the tank. I was thinking about going with white gravel and seeing if that helps out with the look of the tank. I want a really clean bright looking tank and right now it has a pink-ish tint to it? any suggestion? will white gravel help out instead of the red and black?

YES , white gravel will be much better, or go with any solid color..Or even better sand [pool filter sand]. I love the way my sand looks and light is never a problem/. Bright colors in gravel and in decor can make the light blur and look realy obscure,or inaccurate..

gravel question

Postby stretch-1 on Thu Feb 24, 2005 2:27 am

i was considering some white sand...but i have no clue how to clean the sand. I know for the gravel I use the syphon cleaner, but I do not know how to clean sand. Well I was looking and I was wondering if the aqua-glo light would be better than the power-glo for my tank? They are made by hagen. any suggestions on the light?

well i got some white rocks and they loook a TON better than the red rocks...they are really tiny rocks compared to the larger rocks. But the light still looks pink. Does anyone have any suggestion what light i should get? I was thinking about the aqua-glo by hagen instead of the power-glo. Is there any other T-8 lights that would be good for my tank?
