Hi, I'm new to your site but I've enjoyed browsing the last couple of days.
My question is this, I had my 30 gal. set up with 4 baby Dempsey's in it ( the tank has been set up for about 4 months). Recently two of the fish started hanging out alot, and would'nt let the other two out of the corner. I've done alot of research on Dempsey's and feel I have a fair amount of knowlage about the sexing of these fish. The larger of the two is very colorful and long dorsal and anal fins. The smaller one does'nt have as much color has a bit bolderer markings and fins are'nt as long.
So to make a long story short, I removed the smaller two fish in hopes I've finally got a breeding pair their only about 2-3 inches long at this point but are acting like they like each other.
Was I wrong to asume I have a pair at this early stage? Does my discription of the fish help in any way for answers on their sex?
Sorry about the long text (I guess I like to type or something):D

HI tug, and welcome to the forum. I have never bred JD's, but one general sign of pairing up is hanging out together. I am going to move this post to the Breeding section. Hopefully someothers with more experence will give you some more info on breeding JD's. No worries about long posts, the more info the better.
