I just ordered a canister xp3 and was wondering what order to put media in it? I ordered all media available for extra.

The only canister I've got is the Magnum 350 -- if they're similar, it should be cvery clear what order it goes in, both by the construction of the unit and the instructions. In my 350 (and in most HOBs I have) first pre-filter (mechanical filtration--filters out all the little particles so they don't mess up the rest of the filtration) then biological and/or chemical filtration (to deal with the ammonia -- bio-wheels or carbon or floss or micro-papers or whatever you prefer). Sorry we haven't answered -- I didn't because I'd never heard of an xp3:D

I am in the same boat as Mark (never had one). Plus I am not sure if Gman is asking to use the supplied media, or if he was asking if anyone has made thier own "substititions to what media to use.

This is what i ordered and i was asking ,from bottum to top what order to put media ? I know prefilter sponges 1st. And stone a 350 mag isnt in the same class as an XP3:D

Every reveiw and bits i have read about the magnum is bad, everyone i talked to online always say they wish they had gone with another filter but the bio wheel is pretty lol
