Slate rock?

Postby tintin on Sun Oct 08, 2000 12:16 am

Hi all,

I know what slate tiles look like as my old house had slate tiling. But many posts here have mentioned slate rock. A flat piece of slate. Is this the same as a slate tile froma tile shop? All the3 LFS's sell all kinds of rocks. Lava rock, sand stone but I have never ever seen slate in a fish shop before. Does anyone have a picture of this stuff for me to see?

Tintin,

Look on the oscar page here www.cichlidfish.com/oscars/index.shtml
and click on that picture to go to the picture gallery. You'll see my breeding pair of oscars with eggs laid on a piece of slate.

Great! Thanks Joe. I'll have to look around for a piece then. Yours doesn't look like a tile, so I gather that you found it at a fish store.

Hi Tintin,

yes, i did happen to get it at a fish store, but you might have better luck at stores like Home Deopot etc.. that have gardening departments etc...probably cheaper at these kidn of stores than at fish stores anyway..
