Sunlight

Does anyone know if direct sunlight on a tank can affect the chemicals and water of the tank?

Meaning....should you not sit a tank in front of window for example?

Just wondering. Thanks.

Sunlight

the main reason for not placeing a tank infront of a window is that the sunlight causes huge algae blooms (good if you have a huge pleco to feed) but with other fish this is a problem as you never see your fish.

also the other problem is that the sunlight will cause heat which makes it hard to control the water temperature.

thats the only reasons

So then that would explain the abundance of algae on the glass and the inability to keep the water from going green after a week following a water change.

I moved the tank away from the window last night and I hope that will cure the problem.

Thanks Craig.
