ANGELS DIEING!

Postby FatherNSon on Sun May 16, 2004 9:54 am

HELP!!!

As my sig says i have angels in a tank all on their own, since i bought them up until 2 days ago they were fine, swimming about, eating and being happy.

Yesterday i came upstairs to find one of the marbles belly up with a rather enlarged belly. i thought it may have been cause it was a baby and my dad reinforced that idea. As soon as my dad saw the angel he said its dropsy so i put 1 cupful (10ml) of interpet #9 into the tank (10ml treats 100l). i dont have any carbon in the tank.

Up until this morning when i found one of the koi's dead, again with an enlarged belly (seems like dropsy doesnt it?), my dad said maybe the treatment didnt get time to work and it died early in the night maybe.

After going out to purchase a test kit and such, i came back to find the other marble dead, belly up, but it wasn't an enlarged belly this time. They were visibly gasping before we left (the koi and marble are babies and they were gasping yet my 2 veils aren't showing signs of gasping)

I have tested the water and come up with this:

Ammo: 0
Nitrite: 0
PH: 7.8
KH: 125.3 ppm
GH: 179 ppm

i treated the tank for dropsy and the other koi angel seems to be OK at the moment but its still gasping a bit - WHY?!??

its fins are clamped up and it swims about a bit.

Whats going on?!?!?

What are current water parameters -- ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?

i already posted the parameters in the water in my first comment...

no nitrate test in my kit but i assume since ammo and nitrite are 0 so will nitrate?

Hey guys, you guys have been keeping fish for a while now. Angel fish are aseptable to water conditions that you may not be able to control. not a good hardy fish. I want you to read and down load this symptoms chart. Their are meds where you are at that you can't get. But I know you can get Furan-2, MelaFix. Those two right their are all you need to cure many probs that you will incounter if used early. Airiation is important in your tanks, that could be why they are gasping, unconditioned water will cause it too. ( I'm sure you do that! )

http://www.klsnet.com/files/fishchart.htm Also

http://www.aquariumpharm.com/new.html

On this one, scroll down to "View chart 1, (in blue) down load.
then: View chart 2, down load. These appear blury but are clear once you down load. And yes you can down load these! thats what thet are their for!
These down load fine with no missing words....Barb

ANGELS DIEING!

Postby FatherNSon on Mon May 17, 2004 3:18 pm

my water is always conditioned when i add it to the tank, i remove the chlorine within the water using aquasafe from king british which also has some aloe vera in to destress the fish.

I also add some stress zyme to help the filters get working and destress the fish a little more too.

as ive shown the ammo is at 0 and the nitrites are also at 0!, aeration is fine because the pleco in there and 2 other veil tail angels -aren't- gasping unlike the babies were before they died.

This has to be a problem at juvinile level, not adolescant cause as ive said, pleco and 2 other angels are fine.

Well my dad bathed the last lil angel in a bicarb bath and its still alive, gasping a little less now so hopefully itll survive.

its eating healthily, beat the other 2 bigger angels to a lot of the brine shrimp i put in today so i dunno wtf is going on.

Ah well ill retest my tank when i get time.
