Honduran Red Point Convicts

I understand these are a color morph and not an actual hybrid. I can't tell from the picture, but they seem to be similar to the blue marbled convicts.

My LFS guy has 29 1 inch convict fry. The father was a Honduran Red Point and the mother was a standard patterned white.

He says he can't tell what color they'll be yet. I'll get whatever I want. He said the father killed the mother so he got rid of him.

Does anyone know much else about them? Maybe I should find a convict exclusive website.

Here's a pic:

Then that would be a hybrid ;)
the "standard patterned white" would be a convict - Archocentrus nigrofasciatus

The "Honduran Red Point " is not a convict, they are Archocentrus sp. ‘Honduran redpoint’ - until the scientists agree on a formal species name for them. For a short period alot of people thought they were Archocentrus nigrofasciatus (subspecies) but they were then changed back to being a full seperate species along with Archocentrus "panama gold belly" with the proposed Genus change of convicts from Archocentrus to Crytoheros.

Fish scientists spend to much free time switching these names around to confuse us simple hobbyists :( ;)

BTW - that looks like the ACA picture which does little to show those fish off - nothing against the pic but they look better in person

Is the blue marbled convict a hybrid or a color morph?

The blue or white marbled convicts are just color morphs of convicts Archocentrus nigrofasciatus.

Convicts come in a few morphs that are all pure fish (A.nigrofasciatus)
Wild type - blue with black stripes
Gold/white - The whiteish patternles ones
White striped
blue marbled
white marbled

In private colections theres a few other morphs being worked on - Blue patternless, orange, red and others but they probally won't hit stores for a year or so.
