Getting them to tango...

Mixing Fry/Filter suggestions

Postby fisherman on Wed Jan 07, 2004 10:05 pm

A couple things I could use advice on. Has anyone had success keeping Dempsey/Firemouth/Convict Fry togther after removing parents? I've got 10 tanks full of fry with nowhere else for the fish to breed and I'd like to open some tanks up but the last time I tried to mix fry my convicts who were just a tiny bit larger than my Jacks, the Demsey's got picked on too much... Also, any suggestions on what to do about filtration so the fry don't get sucked up? I've got a regular floss cartrige rubber banded around the intake tube's (I run Penguin Biowheel 330 or 125 on all my tanks) for now but would like something that doesn't clog so fast because my water tends to cloud up. Is there a sponge perhaps from another filter model that I could cover it with? Thanks for the help!

Ditch the hang on filters and get an airpump and a couple of sponge filters it'll make things alot easier.

As for mixing fry personally I avoid it,just because alot of baby cichlids look the same when small
