What type of fish would be cpmpatible with my oscar and would clean up all the dropped food??
I heard salmon tailed catfish are good for scavenging the bottom!!

Hi HDK,

Well lots of people keep some kind of pleco with their oscars, in my opinion though it's better to just siphon out extra food. Yea I know, too much work....maybe some others here have had good luck with a superduper bottom cleaner I've never really kept other fish with my oscars, except if they were meant for food Image

Crayfish that can't be swallowed are good scavengers.Make sure they don't shred your oscar's fins though.

Humph, try the pl*cos first. Now they do have there excriment also, but it's a longer string like poop, much easier to clean up and doesn't break up as easy as O's when cleaning your gravel. I have had problems with crawfish in the past, or should I say they have had problems with my Oscars. I have not been able to find a big enough or tough enough crawfish to hang with my O's! Not even the smaller O's like 4-5" I think this is the equivilant of garfield to pasta(don't know how to spell laseinga). One of their delicacies, ya know! You can try and see but they eat the crawfish. Trust me it will be an awesome display!

HUMPH! I own 3 plecos and they produce more waste than they are worth! They have really slow metabolisms and the only way to get less waste is to feed them vegetables insteas of wafers and it's still a lot of waste! Mine are little too! Plus only one of them will eat meaty things, they just make a bigger mess! How about a geophagus to stir stuff up?I've never tried this but I've heard of other people doing it. I got the crayfish idea from a man from Austrailia so maybe they have tougher crayfish there.
