what price range? if you can I would recommend a DV video camera, I have a Sony one and am happy with it. It also has night-shot, infrared in 0 light. Look at the "optical" magnification when you buy not those huge "digital magnification" numbers like 600X etc....and of course the higher the number of pixels on the CCD the better. Over 680K pixels would be good, some have well over 1000K pixels nowdays... 3CCD cameras I think would probably be more than what you're looking for. I would recommend to you either Cannon or Sony. Though I'm sure there's other good brands....(JVC, FujiFilm, etc...)

You can find some used ones sometimesfor good deal on ebay.

Thanks for the reply Joe.

I want a digital, around $400-500. My Mom also has been wantting a camcorder, she might pitch in $100-150 to get a better camera.

Here are some that I was looking at.

Those look fine, you can also look into the:
Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV103 Camcorder

Canon ZR 60 - Camcorder - Mini DV
http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.asp?EDC=454947

The Sony TRV-350 you found is nice in that you can use it as a webcam through USB port and it has the infrared nightshot for use in complete dark...drawback is I think it has less resolution than some of the other ones.

Video Cameras

Hey guys,
I have a Sony TRV-330, stills on it come it pretty crap, but under good lighting they can be reasonable, the video camera side is great, has some really good features so i am sure the new 350 would be better, i do alot of video capture from mine and it works well. You can also use it to capture video from other sources - dvd, video, ps2 etc etc via the firewire and tv cords. Only thing i dont like is the stills quality and the clarity of the picture in low lit rooms etc.

Mick.
