Maybe look into the tetra tec or tetra tec deep's they seem pretty quiet especially if you screw them down so they can't vibrate.

Most of the hagen and otto air pumps seem loud so I'd avoid those.

ya they are pretty quite but I have the biggest air pump you can buy and it just loud enough that you notice it. I just wrap mine up in this foam that I have from silencing my car and it makes it very quite.

if you dont feel like buying new ones, you can easily silence the old ones you already have. just take a jar ( plastic or glass) big enough to hold the pump inside. take the lid and make a hole just big enough for the air tube to pass through. put the pump into the jar, and let it hang by the air tube. as the pump doesnt touch the sides of the jar, it would muffle it alot. also, if you want more, just wrap some clothes or blanket over it.

hahah....DM.....my way is much easier than yours....but works the same way....

what i do is....i let the pump hang over the table/stand er something...edge...and tape the cord TO the table....so that the pump is not touching anything......(mught not work if its like internal noise inside of the pump)

but recently, i juss threw my pump into the pile of filter floss.....lol.....works even better

The problem is that the pumps I have vibrate inside which makes the noise.

take it apart and slap some sounddampner like dynamat or rubberized undercoating on the little arm that moves the diaphram.while you have it open make sure the diaphram isn't wearing out.
