this is for the navigation of the forums/threads....the old one had ALL the cichlidfish forums linked on one page for easy navigation fishwise and easy to see which ones are active

the new one (the one now) has links to sub-forums on a different page through categories....and like so, the page would load faster cus it wont have much material on one page...

please vote on which setup you want...

I've been having alot of problems and slowing of my pc lately because of the chat window on the side of the forums... It may be my new firewall, but it never seems to load right away anymore, and i lag terribly, even on cable modem, with it now.... Love having it there, but just slows me down a lil... Like I said I think it's prolly my firewall...lol

turn the chat off and see if it speeds loading up for you.

Well, try stillearning's suggestion and use the link in his post. I don't know why so many people have to use a firewall....they never used one or needed one before but now all the sudden everyone and his dog needs one just use Norton or some other antivirus program and erase your firewall software. If you really want a firewall, get a hardware firewall not the junky software kind. Also, most cable/dsl routers have built-in firewalls.

I have the same problem, but I am also behind a firewall (router). I hate firewalls, most ppl dont have to worry about hackers. There really isnt as many ppl out to wreck your computer as the security companies make you believe. Most likely no one cares enough about whats on your computer enough to hack it. If they did, hackers have ways around firewalls.

Reason I got a firewall is because someone actually did hack into our computer systems here(2 computers sharing the same isp connection).I also have Norton AV which is on the highest alert setting and always update the virus list weekly. While Zone Alarm was bit of a pain to configure at first, once I learnt all the tricks etc, it pretty easy.

Tony, you said you use two PC through same ISP so are you using a kind of connection router? because a LOT of people are using those which have built-in firewall and on top of that using software. Also, are you sure you got "hacked" and you just didn't get some virus Norton couldn't kill? Most of the time people get hacked when they allow TCP/IP printing/file/sharing over network which is a big no-no...I think newer versions of windows address this issue....

i just finished in another vote the new forum is good but wheres the spell check in post a reply section for those of us that are a little lazy, or is it just me??

By the way, this is a very 'old' poll, look at the date, 2003 I even forget the details of those changes but it was during the vb days...

But you're right, I don't see a spell check option either, maybe it doesn't have the feature but I did notice if I spell a word wrong it seems to underline it in red, does it do that for you?

Hmm...I wonder if its FireFox browser that does the underlining for me then and not the forum....what browser do you use?
