Times like this the media has too much freedom which hampers the efforts of the soldiers trying to get the job done. They should at least not broadcast live, but its all money and ratings I guess.

I agree.

The media is being allowed to do what has never been done before, and they are taking full advantage. The military, I'm sure doesn't want their exact positions of every group in the country listed. But the media seems to say, here, look, I am here. I'll be there soon. Even showing planes taking off... Yes, that's cool, but it's like a warning.. "look, there goes a plane, get your anti-aircraft missles ready."

And even though some pictures from the desert may look harmless....with no real discernable features on the horizon...(to us) How many times have you driven down a familiar country road with nothing but trees or fields, and wouldn't recognize it later?

some good points but I don't think it's a big deal.

But the media seems to say, here, look, I am here.
watch closely, when there isn't supposed to be iraqi forces near by they usually don't show to much when they're close they do but if they close enough to know they're near iraqi forces they show alot more,if they're close enough to know iraqi forces are close Iraq already knows where we are.Rember although this has been pretty easy (so far) Iraq still had the 7th biggest and most advanced army in the world if we're close to them they know it ;)

On the other side a pictures worth a thousand words -- CNN,skynews , fox, lnn,,nbc and others have all broadcast whats happening or whats happened before or while Iraqi officials have went on Iraqi news or aljazeera and lied about the same events.I think thats whats kept the whole region (for the most part) from beliveing alot of the lies that iraq tried to tell about the coalition forces and it seems like it's added to some surrendering and etc..
It's like when you can get a split screen and see the iraqi information minister on one side saying they're winning and the coalition is taken a beating in whatever city and the other side of the screen shows a line of iraqi forces surrendering,no matter where you live in the world or which side you support it's pretty easy to see whats a fact and whats a lie.

Very True....and I guess at this point, there really is no "surprise we're here" left. What would be a good idea, is to set up a temporary tv studio, and broadcast some of the things we've been seeing all along, so that they can see both sides as well.

Kinda In the middle

I agree that it's a great tool to show what is really going on there, Like the information minister saying they defended the airport and ran the forces out of that section, and then we see shot of our troops patroling the airport. However I don't know if I really want to be completely informed about all the things that are happening for good or bad.

Like the Families of the wounded or Dead that hear that "6 troopers from 3rd infantry have disappeared" and now they are all upset because none of the names have been released yet, that has to be very very hard on the families.

I remember being at work on 9/11 and seeing the horror of it all. That was something that wasn't a very good thing, and i wish they would have cut tape. Just Imagine the Children that were old enough to understand what happen have to see and live through that. Not to say it's any easier for us, but i am sure you understand what i am saying.
