What kind of fish go well with red devils so they don't fight?
When I put fish with the red devil then it fight with the other fish.

Most people have trouble keeping anything with a red devil. They are really mean fish. A lot is just luck and experimentation adding different fish to your tank. Make sure the tank is big enough togive both fish room also!!! :D

My Green TError and Dovii do fine with my RD (same size). I had to take out the Midas and Red Terror, though. I have 3 tanks that I am playing musical chairs with ;)

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. You may want to look at a Crench (Pike). I have one in all of my tanks and nobody messes with any of them.:D

Speaking from experience with breeding and raising RDs, all those fish will end up dead except the RD eventually.

Honestly the only way RDs will get along with other fish is one huge tank(250g+) and even that is not a sure thing.

red devils and other fish?

i dont think thats true tony.....

RD's arent like THAT mean....lol

i mean like....if theres a fish fast enough, then itl live....

like a 6" convict (almost rare size)
now the convict can kill the RD.....

ive seen at the stores are 2 types of RD's...the regular RD...and the parrot RD...now the parrot is not the same as the parrot fish, it looks more like reg. RD but has a pointier and bigger head (mouth area)....and im so confused to what it really is...or if its a hybrid

and the owhter thing is....whoa...first time ive ever head about someone having other fish in with a dovii....lol....the doviii must be real small then

In all my times of having numurous Rds they have done nothing but kill, maim, stress to the max any tank mates I dare tried (even convicts and each other)
The only reason a dovii is more agressive is its pure size and its capability of inflicting major damage withs its powerfull jaws.(I currently have a dovii and have seen 1st hand what she is capable of doing.)

In regard to the parrot fish(which also come dyed too), that is a sickening hybrid of a severum and possibly a RD I believe. I am totally against it and never support any stores that sell them.

There is a true parrot cichlid(Hoplarchus pssiticum I think thats the name from memory) but its rare and doesant look anything like the abortions being sold under the parrot cichlid name.(Its green for one)

Yeah, they are all between 6-7 inches long. The dovii at this point in time just keeps 1/2 the tank pretty much to himself. He only makes the RD (labiatus) leave "everytime". The GT still ventures in and makes his lap around the driftwood. Dovii will come up close but the GT doesn't move or give a hint of running. If the Dovii gets too close, the GT will turn and chase.

They're all hybrids just different mutants ,some are blood parrots crossed back to RD's and some are Bloodparrots X RD X Bifasciatus and etc..

Until the full grown Dovii decideds to eat it :D

Sounds just like all the RD's I've tried to work with to

OKay, help me...

It appears that you guys with the experience are saying that REd Devils and Dovii are loners. Or at least they will be!!! Is this true? I really don't know. I know they are tough but I did think I could find a tank mate or two to go with them.

AM I gonna have to be making some emotional (bon voyage) or financial (another tank or two) decisions?

Yep or just wait and the fish will do it for you :D

It's not uncommon for rd's or dovii's to claim an area bigger then an aquarium even up to 250 gallons and want to attack things that get within 4' of the aquarium
Just think what you think a 24" dovii can or will do to other tankmates;)

They dont call doviis "wolf cichlids" for nothing lol.

Sorry mate but you are gonna have to make a decision one way or the other in the not too distant future. Just wish petshops would give their customers better advice rather than them finding out the hard way. Sadly this will never happen in most cases as making money is more important. :(
