Strange foods

Could someone help me? There was a party at my house yesterday and everyone loved to watch the fish of course. I was feeding my oscars bloodworms and cichlid pellets when someone made the comment that the'll eat about everything. Then greg a friend threw pieces of pepperoni pizza in when I had turned around. I turned back around to see them scarfing it up.I would like to Know if this will harm my osars.
Thanks.

Hi Brandon,

I wouldn't worry about it. I've fed my oscars hot dogs before. Biggest problem with cooked food, even gave them stake......is that it really dirties your water fast. As long as they can digest it ok and they can "pass" it and won't "plug" them they'll be fine. the pepperoni meat might be alittle hard to digest but they should be fine don't worry about it.

Yea last time I have a wild party for a while too! Some people just don't respect you stuff sometimes. I had a "friend" dump some beer in my tank. I didn't find out till the next day though. Lucky for him cause I hit the roof man! You try so hard getting everything right an some idiots don't give a dam about anything! OK I feel better...Actually all the screaming and throwing stuff around was for nothing. It really didn't mess up the water or hurt the fish, but still it's just the fact of the matter. Other than feeding him people food, like Joe said, it's just gonna dirty the water a bit. Just don't dump rice & gravy in there..hahah! By the way, I'm 24yrs. Ya'll keep it kicking!

Don't feed him/her for a day or two and then try feeding him/her cichlid pellets. Trust me your fish will gobble them up in no time at all. And its not inhumane...they can go for a few days w/o eating and be perfectly fine eventhough they might look like they are starving to death.

Hi Flowers,

If they STILL don't eat after a day or two of no food, just starve them for a WHOLE week. Then they'll jump out of the tank and kiss you if you got food :)

Hey Chuck,

Glad to hear your having fun. Just talked to a friend of mine who just went up to UC Davis for his Law school...He tells me that IS the happening place, says it's a GUY's PARADISE. He was like totally 'over'excited when he was telling me how easy it is to "hook up".....I wonder how he'll ever graduate :)

I'm sure it's babe central. Same as living in the same town with LSU on the top of the list with partying schools. I mean every night except sunday after 10pm there is something happening and now the tailgating has started. Oh boy oh boy! All these georgeous women running around making me lose my mind! It sure is great living in the south! What part of the country does everyone live in anyways?

Oh man...I wish I was in college! Unfortunatly I do have a full time "high stress" job. That's why I relax in the under water world. It lowers the blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks, although some times I doubt it!~! HAHA! We should all know if you have been in the fish keeping world for a while. But hey, That's why I love it so much. Keep typing ya'll!

Hahhaha, Hey Chuck,

I must confess, I was thinking, what the heck does he care about fish if all he does is party in college, I mean the FISH hobby is just for us stressed out people....good to see i'm still thinking clearly :) sorry you had to join the "working world" though...
Hope everyone knows that it is a Medical FAct that watching FISH will lower your blood pressure, I've been watching them so long I sometimes pass out cuz no blood gets to my brain :) anyway, I've heard of doctors recommending fish to people with high blood pressure

I good way to releive headaches is to put on a snorkel and chill for a while, weather in the tub or in the ocean.BTW my oscars are at college with me and they eat over 40 different things some of which are strictly college fare( ie; ramen noodles).

You wanna talk about high stress? Try 2 kids! One 3 years old, the other 8 mos old! and crawling! And a husband who lives to go salmon fishing in Erie! Meanwhile I get stuck home with the kids. If it were'nt for these fish (1 oscar, 9 Tiger barbs, 5 columbian tetras, 5 catfish, and 2 plecos) to clean up after I would go nuts! LOL :p
BTW I'm also 24, but not single. I love to party, but rarely get the chance, in fact, this is having a good time to me! LOL Tell me that's not pathetic!! LOL

Hi Jen,

Well, it's more pathetic for us single guys who DON'T have the excuse of a "family". I kind of wish I was "Immature" again, and just party all night and sleep all day! Ahhhhh I think I figured it all out, it's all those bills to pay! Image
