Just wanted to know if any of NW Ohio fish fanatics have a 55gal. or bigger tank for sale? I only have a 30 with 1 4in. Oscar, but can't afford a new one right at this moment.

I might have about 9 or 10 55's for sale in a few weeks,but nothing real soon.It just depends on how fast I get my taxes done and how soon I can get my new set-up built.


Just some advice though DON"T buy a 55 new in the Toledo area they're way overpriced lately most of the ones I seen were 89.99 or higher!
It might be a better option to look at :

50 gal wides 36"X18"X19" are $49.99 at Daves Tropical Fish on Lewis - 5 gals less but 6" wider and alot cheaper
I think Dave had 70 (67's) gallon tanks 48"X"18"X18" for $74.99

Or if you want a 4' tank, I know
Perrysburg Aquarium has 75 gallon tanks for $107.99

Or watch Sweetfeed on Starr.Ave a month or so ago they had 2 125 longs for $125.00 each on special

Thanks very much for your info. Dave's Tropical Fish is where I bought my O and my cockerspanial mutt of 6 years. It's a hole in the wall, but good selection of alittle bit of everything.
I too am waiting to do my taxes in afew weeks. Maybe then I might get a new tank.


P.S. What kind a filter do you reccomend for a larger tank?

If you not to far away,it'd be worth your time to check out Perrysburg Aquarium,he usually matches or beats everyone else's tank prices gary the owners a nice guy and knows alot about fish but he doesn't carry many South or Central American cichlids so I don't go there to often.


Depending where in Toledo you are,theres a new(er) store on Navarre just into oregon acroos the street from Krogers (behind pizza hut),some of their prices are a little high but they'll work with customers alot more then most of the local stores and if they don't have what you want they'll order it. (I'll post the name later since I can't rember it now and I have to run over there later)

P.S. What kind a filter do you reccomend for a larger tank?

Most people use the rule with oscars that the filter or filters should cycle the water 8-10 times an hour. So for a 55 gallon a filter rated at like 450 - 550 gallons per hour.Local prices again are high! The best prices I've seen lately were a Super Petz out on monroe (I spend to much time in stores ) they had aquaclear 500's last week for $35.00
ANY good brand you can find at a decient price will work as long as it's big enough - but I avoid the new whisper's

Also wanted to let you know that a new aquarium place opening up in the next week or two, called A WaterWorld, located in the south end on Burroughs Dr.. Across from Burroughs School.
I talked to the owner about a week ago and he said he used to be just a breeder, but wanted to open up a retail store that he says will be the best in Toledo.

Shame they are no places around here that sale tanks that cheap. The cheapest place I know of here in NC to get a 55 gal tank is Petsmart which is an hour from me and it's $99.99 for tank, hood, and lights.

Theres another store in toledo thats was started by a breeder name Anthony it's called Tropical Aquatics out on hill ave.Almost always a nice selection of cichlids at resonable prices,but tanks were high priced last time I was out there.

BTW the other store I couldn't think of earlier is SeaSide Aquarium.

South Ave. and Airport is the closest intersection. The store will sit almost behind that Dairymart or In and Out Mart or what ever it is. There is also a Stoner Johnson Insurence company right at that intersection. The # is in the phone book in the yellow pages under Pets. A WaterWorld, Says South St. though. It's an old beauty shop across from Burroughs School.
