Fluvel 203 noise problem

Postby Ekliptix on Wed Dec 25, 2002 12:16 am

this is a canister filter btw

The filter began vibrating badly so I bought a new impeller. It is quieter now but not nearly as quiet as when it was new. It also cavitates(gurgles, pushes air out), so air must be getting in somehow. I guess it could be the o-ring around the main unit's lid, or any joint along the inlet side that's out of the water.

The impeller was $19! so I'm considering just getting a new/different filter if I'm going to have to replace stuff.

any input?

Thanks

god i hate the 03 series.. bugged the hell outta me, espeically that o-ring. what kind of tank are you running the filter on? i would buy a new filter if it were me, but if you still need the large media and dont mind the hassle of the o-ring, keep it.

it's for a 33 gal tank.

I saw a Biolife in-tank filter system today which was good for up to 55gal. it included a heater too I believe. I have this type of filter system on a 55 gal now and it's good, really quiet and moves water around well. 3 stage biological btw.

It was on sale for $50 from $89 or something. I'm considering it, especially when I just spent $130+ on lighting, the $50 wouldn't be much to be able to sleep well(it's in my room).
