I have an albino oscar and a tiger oscar. They have been tank mates for the past 4-5 years. Over the past 2 years they've engaged in tail slapping/vibrating, jaw locking, clearing rocks from the bottom of the tank. You name the mating ritual and they've done it. For the past month or so now I've noticed my albino oscar's abdomen become very swollen and bumpy. At first I thought that it was going to lay eggs. But as more time has gone by I have noticed that the petrusion goes down and then will inflate again. Right now her body is very swollen also and she as not been eating much of anything. Her abdomen now almost looks as if it "torn up" or decaying. I am beginning to think that my fish is not about to lay eggs but may have something terribly wrong with it. The pet stores have been of no help. Anyone with any info please respond ASAP. Thanks!

I relied to this post in the oscar forum, try doing what I suggested and see if it gets any better. In addition to what I mentioned in the other post add 1 tbs salt per 10 gallons and raise the temp to 82*
