i let my friend borrow my pleco because of a alge break out and just today they called me up and the fish was floating at the top and has no movement but breathing!!!!!! doesnt look good plz help
i think he got cut some how because theres blood on him but theres no sharp things in the tank litterly just a filter and gravel fine gravel, It seems as if its coming from his anus you think he could of swollowed some gravel and its cutting him up internaly or soemthing. all i know is hes not stable at all and dont aspect him to live more than 2 more hours. Plz help

Well if it's a cut I would say raise the temperature up to about 82, and add 1 table spoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water, but this sounds more serious. Really, I'm not sure as they are anything you can do really. Could be an internal parasite. Might be best to put it out of it's misery, but that is a last resort .

Sorry redwopman, but it sounds bad.
Your freinds tank may have given him a internal disease or as you said he may have swallowed something he shouldnt have.
Was there any othe fish in ther that may have attacked him maybe?

was there ever any broken glass in the tank like a busted heater or thermometer... I was thinking that it might have taken in a sliver of glass from in the gravel that cut it's insides up. Other then that I am not aware of any disease that would act that quickly, unless it was sick before you gave it to him...

No that was the first think i check. No glass from heater or the thermometer. And it was heathy before i gave it to him. Im now insearch of a new one not that i have alge everywhere now. didnt realize that he did that much intill you loose him.

No its not doing very well. Its dead!!
Sad day. I did an autopsy and found it inconclusive , no gravel was found.
