PLEASE HELP MY OSCARS HAVE BOTH DEVELOPED A MILKY FILM THAT SEEMS TO BE SPREADING ALONG THIER VIENS EVEN INTO THIER EYES...EVEN THE DEMPSEY IS SCRAPING LIKE HES GETTING IT,IT SEEMS TO HAVE STARTED WHEN THE JACK BIT MY OSCARS LIP OPEN AND TOOK OUT A CHUNK EXSPOSING HIS TEETH.I HAVE READ ALL THE BOARDS BUT DONT WANT TO TREAT UNTIL SURE.THEY ARE SO MISERABLE,SWIMMING SLOWLY.SIDEWAYS AND SCRAPING....WHAT IS IT????PLEASE HELP ME IT KILLS ME TO SEE THEM SOOO SAD

I was talking to Adam on ICQ about your situation and we both agree that you had better act fast as it sounds like fungus which will kill quickly.

Get any brand of fungus medication and dose accordinaly. Also adding cooking salt at a rate of 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons will help prevent and heal any seconary infections.

Word of caution Jack Dempseys and oscars are not a good mix as they dont get on and its usually the oscar that comes off second best.

Remeber the sooner you dose the tank the more chances of survival

Melafix is a good one... keep an eye on it and make sure that within two or three days you start to see some improvement. It wont disappear in that time but you should see it stop advancing, slow down, or start receeding. If it doesnt I would try another medication until you do see some improvement. Also it looks like Tony didnt mention this but you should raise the temp to 80-82 drgrees to help kill off the fungus.

I agree with Tony that jacks and oscars are generally not a good mix there are many people who have them successfully but there are plenty of horror stories to make me steer clear of the combo.
