i am fixing to put my tank in lay way and get it in a month or soo. anyways what would be a good filter for it besides the live rock and sand? also what is a good brand of live sand to buy and how much should i get? and i am getiing about 20 lbs of liverock and will add the rest later. do i need a skimmer or not? if so i was planning on getting a venturi typer instead of the airston type.the guy at the local fish store suggest that i should get the new tetra tech filter (150 GPH). if i dont need that much filtration would it be better to get a penguin biowheel 170 if i should use that much money on the tetra tech. at my local fish store they have a deal were you get the 29 gallon tank with full hood and florescent lighting, the penguin bio wheel 170 and the new marine land heater. i thinking that i gonna go with that combo. i am also getting a power head 170 gph. the fish list is going to be a dwarf fuzzy lion, a spotted hawk, and a tomato clown. this tank is only gong to be a fish only tank with a few hermits and shrimp.

Well IMHO I would just add a skimmer, and a powerhead in the back 2 corners of the tank. Since you are not doing any corals and it's just gonna be fish only that would be adequate for that. Agramax sand is good, but if you can get Southdown Playsand it's just as good if not better and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Yes, A good skimmer and a few pwoerheads would do it along with about 20-30 lbs of live rock and a deep sand bed maybe. However if your lion decides he only wants feeders you will need to add a filter. Go with penguin if anything...tetra tech suck IMO.
