New Fish

Postby aaroncain on Tue Mar 05, 2002 6:46 pm

I got a new sw fish at the store the other day and the guy told me that it was an austrailian orange tail. When i was looking up more info on the net, none of the pics matched what it looked like and it is a deeper blue than the others and it has an orange throat and belly, also the fins on its stomach are orange as well, I think that it looks a little like a fiji blue devil but the dorsal fin isnt orange and neither is the anal fin. I am wondering what kind of fish it is that i have gotten. Sorry i cant post a pic since i have a web cam and it is limited to as far as the cord will reach. I will try to get a pic of it for you guys to tell me what you think. Any ideas on what it is???
he is getting along great with my little trigger and they act like they are best buds, I also got a decent sized blue hermet crab which is still alive and kicking. I thought that I would try him and see if he would not get eaten, and so far so good.

New Fish

I went to another lfs and found 2 identical fish that had the same name only a little smaller than mine. They called it a austrialian orangetail also. I think that the pic that I found must have just been a different color variation than mine. The other 2 that i saw in a different store was EXACTLY the same coloring just smaller. I am contemplating getting a dwarf lion, if I can find one that is small enough. Do you think that it would be alright to go into the 30 gal with the baby trigger and aussie? The aussie is about 3 inches and the trigger is about 1 3/4 in. I do have 3 different distinct territories, but the 2 fish i have just hang out in the middle coral.

If it is possible to put in the Lion, I realize that this would be the last fish to add to the tank.

I think you are probably maxed out Image Adding another lion to that tank could be a problem....triggers and lions both have an aggressive side. And trying to get them all into a 30 right now may be ok but as they grow it will be problems. So unless you have pretty quck plans of getting a bigger tank.
