i was thiking about getting or i should say setting up a salt water tank. the only tank that i have room for is a 10 gallon.i would like to get a flame anglefish or a common clown.is that all i will be able to keep in a 10 gallon? will i beable to keep them in a 10 gallon?well i am able to spend the time to take care of the tank. if i get a clown i would need one of those anenomies (spelling) things so that the clown will feel safe. if i get the flame anglefish what would i need for it?i know that for both i would need 10lbs. of live rock,20 lbs. of live sand. i dont plan on keeping a reef tanl just fish only. if i cant keep either one of those fish what will i be able to keep in my 10 gallon?i really dont like the damsles so any other good choicies will be apreciated.

I'm not sure a 10 gallon tank is the best way to start... salt water fish are very sensitive to water chemistry and with only 10 gallons of water huge fluctuations are much harder to prevent then in say a 55 or 100 gallon tank...

You could keep 2 clowns in a 10 gallon but unless you put extremely bright lighthing 75-100 watts of power compact florecent, you cant put an anenome in there with them. Which is fine clowns dont need an anenome like many people seem to think they can be perfectly happy without one. Anenomes are one of the very most difficult creatures to keep alive in the aquarium, and the only people who end up doing it have them under extremely bight light.

You cant have a flame angel... you need at least a 30 gallon tank to keep them, and something closer to 55 gallon tank to keep them happy. look at all the smaller fish, like firefish, blennys, etc. 2 small fish will be about the limit of a tank that size.

well the 10 gallon is my only option for starting out with a salt tank.its the only size tank that i can use or have the space for.about filtration, right now i have a wishper power filter and i'm getting a power head. what other filtrations would i need besides the live rock and sand?oh and i got a heater

oh and i am planning on keeping the 2 clowns.with taht i would also like to get five hermit crabs, and 10 turbo snails. is there anything else that i need to get?

what kind of a light do i need? right now al i have is a flouresent light and when i set the tank up all i'm doin is a fish only no coral. thanks

If you are going to do a smaller tank I would stick with the 2 clowns. You need to keep a close eye on your water condition.
As far as snails and crabs I would get about 9 of them and about 5 of the snails. I would also think about geting a cleaner shrimp besides being fun to watch they also good for the fish because they help to keep them clean.
