have a look at the bottom lips of your Oscars. I have found that
female oscars generaly have a small wart-like lump on the bottom lip, this
doesn't occur in males. Also look at finnage males have longer fins (dorsal
& anal) overlap tail, and males also have a fuller forehead.

though this takes some looking into to the only way to sucessfully tell the sex of a oscar is to vent them.

I don't think the wart-like thing is true but the other stuff sounds right....and yes venting is the way to go...
