thanks for replying to my message. to answer your qs. they are about 9 inch in length and are about two to three pounds they are fully grown and seem to have paired up. but i have nothing to compare with. iv gone to that site that you mentioned (fishhead) but they dont have pictures of oscars there are i cant find them. iv done the venting and they look difrent im sure i have a male and female but i dont now witch one they are.iv put a flat peace of slate in the tank with them and they seem to be doing all the right things. and i have done all the right things but i want to atleast know the diference please help thanks.

there is a lot you can and most important cannot do, if you want them to spawn. adding some cool water on your next water change helps and feed them good for about a week then most important, and this is hard for me, but leave them alone, no food. no cleaning in other words stay away from tank once you see them laying together side by side on the slate. This is how i get mine to spawn but i am sure you will get more advise and hopefully joe will step in and give you some ways to tell how to tell male from female.....i can only tell with tigers. sorry, hope this help
