Yes, but not in the fry state. They must reach sexual maturity first.

I have inbred so to speak convicts that are brother and sister and they have bred several times.

I have to say that this is not really a good idea just as it isnt a good idea for humans to mate with their sisters... same is true for fish, it weakens the genetics of all the fish after that... needless to say most of the colorful varieties available are products of long term in breeding....

I agree with Adam, if it is not nessessary to inbreed then I would not.

I myself do inbreed my angels in order to develoup new and strong color patterns. But I keep carfull tract (in fact I have books and books documenting every spawn and the realations) Every 4-5 generatins of inbreeding I introduce a wild caught angel to the line to help strengthen it. The wild ones are quite pricy . . .but I hope to avoid problems associated with inbreeding by doing this.
