HELLO FISH LOVERS...

HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME,I HAVE A 12" FEMALE OSCAR THAT IS DUE TO LAY TOMORROW I THINK,AS SHE LAYED EGGS TWO WEEKS AGO BUT JUST AFTER TWO DATS THEY ATE THEM... NOW I HAVE TRYED TO KEEP PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE TANK BY PUTTING PAPER AROUND THE SIDES TO KEEP PEOPLE AWAY...NOW I CAME HOME TODAY AND CHECKED ME MATES AND SEEN THAT THE FEMALE HAS ,WHAT LOOKS LIKE A SMALL BUBBLE STICKING OUT WHERE HERE TUBE COMES OUT.NOW WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS A SIGN OF EGGE BOUND OR NOT,I AM WORRIED ABOUT HER SO ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GREATFULL.I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO...

KIND RERGARDS MICHAEL.

EGG BOUND OSCAR

Hi Michael,

I just replied to your email. Thanks for posting here as this is preferred over email. The "ovipositor" drops down when they are ready to spawn making it a lot more visible. Female's tube is bigger(wider" than male's since it needs to pass 2mm diameter eggs while the male's milt can pass through his thinner genital papillae just fine.
