cleaning driftwood

Postby Bean on Mon Aug 13, 2001 4:19 pm

I just collected some driftwood and rocks on vacation. there were snails on the wood, and I'm assuming eggs. will boiling these for a few hours kill the eggs, or should I use bleach? the bleach makes me nervous because most of the rocks are very porous, and the driftwood has a big hollow in it that I won't be able to scrub the bleach away.
THANKS

I think boiling would probably do the job.You could also probably try soaking it for a few days in saltwater.I think using bleach on them would be a very bad idea.

Boiling should be fine but if you do use bleach after you scrub the parts you can just leave it out in the sun for a week or so and that should take the rest out.
