I have 3 amazon swords in my tank and the oscars sometimes go and mouth it but they never eat it. You might give that variety a try.

Help!!!!!

I'll definitly check those out. You know what else I was thinking of: I live right near the river and every time i'm out there fishing, there's a ton of plant life out there. I was considering using some of those plants, but am concerned about bacteria and organisms that could be introduced. Is it a bad idea to go out to the river and get plants?

Its not a bad idea for wild plants or F0. You just have to be careful with what you introduce to your tank. Take precautions, such as a dip or med tank. A dip is simply a medication you dip your fish or plant life into for roughly 30 mins before introducing them into you cycled tank.

Would methylene blue be considered a good dip?

I do not remember the name as I am sure there should be several to choose from. However perhaps someone else on this BBS will know names off hand. Just ask your LFS (Local Fish Store)for a fish dip and you should be ok.
