Might be a parisite, but there maybe something sharp like a rock or decoration. Also how high is your tank? What is covering your tank?(glass or flyscreen) The reason I ask is because oscars like to chase things like bugs etc running across the top and will actually try and jump out of the tank to get them. mine have broken glass tops and have actually jumped out a few times(lucky I saw it every time and have now placed weights on top to stop them doing this),mainly when they were younger and have lost quite a few scales in the past and still do it now. it seems to also be the males that do it.

You might want to treat for parasites just to be on the safe side.....some general antibiotic maybe etc..
