pits on oscars face...help

Postby scrappymoose on Sun Oct 01, 2000 7:02 pm

My first time at doing this so forgive me if not doing it correctly. I have a oscar that is getting pits all over his face, it's not just from banging into things. Does anyone know what this could be caused by and how I can treat it? Thanks

Hello scrappy, it could be Hole in the Head. There aren't many pics of it on the web, but there is a link posted in these boards. If you read a few posts you may find it, and I'll try to find it again myself.

Jen

There's a whole section on it contained in the Large tankmates post. Scroll (or read) down about half way and you'll find it. The experts describe it and where to find a picture of it. Good luck!

There is a "Search" function on this BBS you can find it at the top. Here's a link though http://www.cichlidfish.com/cgi-bin/bbcgi/search.cgi?action=intro&default=1

For hole in the head, HITH, do lots of big water changes. maybe add some vitamin B complex to the water, feed good food in variety avoiding goldfish and guppies(carry diseases etc..) Sometimes activated carbon may have a negative effect so take it out.
